***Important Information Regarding Your Child***
Immunizations MUST be current. Your child will not be allowed to start school until we have valid documentation of current immunizations on file. This is district and state mandated. Please update shot records when applicable.
PLEASE keep your child home if he or she has a fever (temperature greater than 100 degrees), vomiting and or diarrhea. This is district policy and helps to prevent the spread of illness to others. Your child is still considered contagious if their fever is reduced as a result of Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Students must be excluded from school until fever free (temperature less than 100 degrees) for 24 hours without medication.
Pre-Kinder, Kinder, 1st & 2nd Graders - Please provide a seasonally appropriate change of clothes in their backpack in case of accidents. (This will prevent parents from making a trip to school)
HAND WASHING – Is the first line of defense in the spread of illness. Emphasize good hand washing and practice it with your child.
* ALL medications must be administered through the health clinic, students may NOT carry or administer their own medicine
* ALL medication must be delivered and picked up by a parent/guardian. In accordance with the Nurse Practice Act; Texas Administrative Code, Section 217.11, the Registered Nurse and the Licensed Vocational Nurse have the responsibility and authority to refuse to administer medications that, in the nurse’s judgment, are contra-indicated for administration to the student.
MEDICATION ORDERS MUST BE RENEWED EVERY SCHOOL YEAR, EVEN IF NOTHING HAS CHANGED. THIS APPLIES TO ALL MEDICATIONS, INCLUDING INHALERS, EPI PENS, DAILY RX MEDICATIONS, AND OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS.
Please see the FORMS tab to download the correct Request to Administer Medication form for the 2019 school year.
YOUR DOCTOR MAY FAX THE COMPLETED FORMS TO 512-428-7390. NOTE: DOCTOR AND PARENT MUST SIGN ALL PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION ORDERS BEFORE THE MEDICATION CAN BE GIVEN AT SCHOOL.
Please complete student health information online. It is important to notify the office of ANY changes in your contact information, health information or emergency information.
Communicable DiseasePlease report all communicable disease to the nurse’s office. This information is useful in preventing the spread of illness in the school. Examples include FLU, strep throat, pink eye, chickenpox, impetigo and scarlet fever or any questionable rash.

Head LiceDiscuss with your child the importance of not sharing combs, hats and helmets to reduce the spread of head lice. Check your child’s hair at home periodically. Please notify the school nurse if your child is being treated for head lice. Children with live lice will be sent home. RRISD will not conduct mass screenings as they have been found to be disruptive to student and teacher class time and increase the potential for lice phobia.

ScreeningsVision, Hearing, AN and scoliosis are state mandated for certain grade levels and students new to the district throughout the year. See parent handbook for further details.
